The Free Sofia HIKE tour is a part of the Sofia Greentour initiative and is a superb way to spend a day just outside of Sofia, to see and learn more about Bulgarian nature, history and culture. All Sofia Green tours are absolutely free but guides accept tips and donations for the Factor projects development. It is up to you to decide how much to give according to your budget and estimation of your guide's enthusiasm.
The Boyana Hiking Tour takes about five hours and follows a moderate hiking trail from the historical Boyana Church to the beautiful Boyana waterfall and Boyana lake in Vitosha. Since the bigger part of the tour is a mountain hike, it is important to come in good hiking or sports shoes and bring some water and a sandwich along.
Tours run Mid April - November and there is no need to book in advance. Tour starting time is 11:00, departure point is the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and it is advisable to come at least 10 min before starting time.
