Description

Ancite fortress located on the north of the Balkan Mountains, close to the Bulgarian town of Belogradchik and is the town's primary cultural and historical tourist attraction, drawing. Fortress has a total area of 10,210 square metres, region was part of the Roman Empire. The rock formations in the area served as a natural protection,surrounded by the famous Belogradchiski rocks. The rocks vary in color from primarily red to yellow; some of the rocks reach up to 200 m in height. Many rocks have fantastic shapes and are associated with interesting legends. Veneza cave was accidentally discovered in 1970 during a mine explosion, 250 meters long consisting of 5 galleries, about 10 million years old. Opened to visitors in 2015. The shapes and formations are impressive.
